I hope for viewers to be disturbed by these images of obviously human figures, all lacking expression and individuality: people stripped of the qualia which make them ‘human’. The tranquil landscapes mirror the calm exterior form that mental distress can take, while the intricacy of the cut-outs reflect the complexity trapped within, with the layers invoking imagery of webs and binding ropes.
